I know I am not the only one guilty of my first beauty
obsession beginning with Benefit. We all
are. The quaint cute packaging just screams ‘girls come and look at me’, not
long and I had tried almost every product on the counter. The hype of Benefit soon
wore off as I realised truly how many beauty brands there are out there. Bobbi Brown was my next culprit to my over
spending. The love began with the base; I had splurged on long wear even finish
foundation as well as the moisture rich foundation. Then I added the face touch up stick and
sheer finish loose powder. This was all in one visit to the Bobbi Brown
counter, so my bank balance really didn’t like me after that. What makes this
high-end beauty brand different is Bobbi Brown’s aspirations. Her idea began
with the look she wanted, a natural makeup with a lipstick that looks like
lips. Each product in her line really shows her idea and simply
enhances what’s already there. If you’re all about your natural skin, a swipe
of mascara and wash of eye shadow, then Bobbi is your gal. So without further a do here’s the pieces
I’ve been picking up from Bobbi Brown the past few weeks.
Bobbi Brown Sterling Nights Eye Palette | £59
This definitely is the product that has to be mentioned first, I can’t contain my excitement for it any longer. I was lucky enough to receive this on Christmas day from my dearest parents. Brownie points to them. With 9 glorious shades, any look can be achieved with this palette; it’s so versatile, from a neutral sheer wash of colour for the day, to a sultry smoky eye. I opt for Moon Glow all over the lid during the day, a light shimmery beige, and has now truly become my favourite eye shadow EVER, just a bummer it’s a limited shade to the palette. For a more night-time appropriate smoky eye, I apply Dove Grey to the crease, Midnight to the outer corner, then for that sparkle, Thistle is a great shade. Add some gel liner and wing it out and your ready to go. Definitely a perfect all rounder palette that has slowly become my most reached for on a day-to-day basis.
Shades L-R Ivory, Moon Glow, Thistle, Dove Grey, Pink Moonlight, Smoke, Midnight, Caviar, Pewter.
I’ve been hunting for a new eye primer for months now, I love Urban Decay and I hate to put a downer on things but I just find their primer potion does nothing for me. I was stuck between this eye shadow primer and the Nars one, both of which I have heard mix reviews on. I opted for this one and it has not let me down one bit. It has an interesting concept though, it has a shade range? Light, light to medium and medium to dark. I went for the light shade, it’s a neutral white yellow colour, perfect for us pale skinned girls. I don’t have any problems with veins or redness on my eyelids, but they tend to get a little oily during the day, with this eye base, your lids become one colour and completely smoothed out, making an exceptional canvas to apply your favourite eye shadows onto. The other bonus it adds an extra 8 hours of wear to your eye shadows, for example if your cream shadow stick promises 8 hours of wear, this base doubles that too 16 hours, amazing right? A true must have for you daily eye shadow wearers.
Bobbi Brown Brow Kit Light | £36
If you want too achieve two different looks, a natural brow or a sharp defined brow, this kit is certainly an option you should check out. This brow kit contains two matte eye shadows, Cement and Birch, placed in a double-sided mirrored black compact, offering a magnified side to catch all those naughty misplaced hairs for you to tweeze away. It also has a mini eye brush and quality tweezers, so if you’re travelling on the go this is a handy little bonus. When you think of eye shadows you probably wonder how will that work on my brows? I used to think the same, and now I’m a total convert. The pigmentation of both of these shadows have such good pay off, they are smooth to apply and the texture works amazingly well to fill and enhance your brows. Apply with an angled brush for the best result, I use Nanshy’s angled detailer, but MAC’s 208 doesn’t disappoint either. Top it off with your favourite brow gel and your brows are good to go all day long.
Bobbi Brown Dark Chocolate Eye Set | £38
Described as a set ideal for those wanting to achieve a subtle to a sultry look on the eye. Containing 3 full size products (that’s less than £13 a product, amazing right?) This set includes Black Chocolate Long-Wear Eye Pencil, Black Chocolate Extreme Party Mascara and a Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Truffle. I’m not one for sets personally, but a swatch of the Truffle cream shadow stick was my mind made up. The fact it was a limited edition cream shadow stick just made me need to get it even more, I’ve never seen a shade like it on the market. This is a gorgeous champagne sparkly shade, swipe over the lids and blend for an everyday eye look, or pair with the products from this set to achieve that sultry night-time look. I love the liner within this set, and for those not wanting a jet black eye look, this is ideal for a more natural approach to eyeliner. It also lives up to the name of long wearing perfect for those full time workers out there. The only thing about this set I am disappointed with is the mascara, I love the shape of the brush and the way it applies, the colour too is gorgeous. I just found it flaked during the day and even with curling my lashes like usual, this just dragged them down and they lost the curl. Besides this minor problem, this set is definitely worth the money and a gorgeous release from Bobbi Brown.
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Dusty Mauve | £21
This is truly a beautiful product. In my opinion every beauty junkie out there NEEDS to own this. This shade suits the name perfect, as it is really a dusty mauve, it is a light purple leaning towards pink, it’s sparkly and just oh so lovely. Also the fact it lasts 8 hours on it’s own is solely amazing, paired with my long-wear eye base, that makes it last 16 hours. Perfect for my 12-hour working days. These cream shadow sticks do dry quickly and once their set they are really stuck on, so blend quickly and use oil-based cleanser to take them off. Pair this with just a swipe of mascara for a little more glam to your everyday look, or add some false lashes and a winged liner and you can achieve a real alluring gorgeous eye look.
